Shanwah, a rising star in racing, has captured attention with his impressive victory in the A$500,000 Gr.2 DCE Alister Clark Stakes (2040m) at Moonee Valley. This win has earned the talented three-year-old a spot in the prestigious Gr.1 Australian Derby (2400m), just before he makes his move to Hong Kong.
What makes Shanwah's success even more special is that he was bred at Trelawney Stud. The talented gelding is by Too Darn Hot and out of the Iffraaj mare Lady Sayyida (NZ), and his outstanding performance is a proud moment for Trelawney Stud, known for breeding top-class horses.
Cherry Taylor expressed her excitement after Shanwah's win, saying, "Yahoooo, what a win in the Alister Clark ...He's a proper horse. Trelawney is so proud to have bred him. Come see his brother at the Inglis sales, Lot 20. Congratulations to Ciaron Maher and the team, great ride, Ethan. Well done to the connections," added Taylor.
Shanwah was sold as a yearling for A$750,000 at the Karaka sale and was initially trained as a colt. After being gelded, he has been in incredible form, winning four races in a row, including two Group Two victories, the Autumn Classic and the Alister Clark Stakes. His recent win at Moonee Valley saw him powering down the stretch to win by two lengths.
Shanwah's success is a testament to the quality of horses bred at Trelawney Stud, and with his bright future ahead, this is just the beginning for this talented New Zealand-bred horse.
